Birds

Derbyshire BRC holds very little bird data at present. Records are maintained by the Derbyshire Ornithological Society who collate monthly reports and breeding bird records. The following list of contacts has been supplied by the Society:

The Sanctuary - Bird and Wildlife Reserve, Pride Park, Derby
A new wildlife reserve is being created at Pride Park. It aims to protect existing skylark habitat, and to offer newly created habitat for sand martin, little ringed plover and common tern. The project was developed in partnership between the City Council, Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, ARUP and a local ornithological expert, and was officially opened by The Rt Hon Margaret Beckett MP in July 2004. It can be easily viewed from within the Park-and-Ride car park (open Mon-Sat 7am-7pm)
